Start your web site SEO campaign.
Research the key phrases you intend on using. Ask yourself,
'what key phrases people use to find your product or service'?
There is no point optimizing your site for "online e-commerce"
if everyone searches using the phrase"shop online".
Develop a list of targeted key phrases with optimum traffic. Review
your list and remove phrases of lower value or less traffic.
Research the competition:
• Examine the key phrases in their Meta-Tags.
• Review the titles in their web sites.
• Find related sites that come up in the top 10 rankings.
• Examine and note their title and key phrases.
• Determine if the top 10 ranking sites your competitors.
Conduct a link search in a major search engine.
In the search box type:
link: www.domainname.com
This will allow you to see all the links to the site that the search
engine references. We would recommend doing this in Google, Yahoo,
MSN and AOL Search).
Optimizing Your Web Site
Write quality content that focuses on your key words and key phrases.
Consider finding a good 'word smith' or 'copywriter'.
Good, creative grammar counts too. I used the creative services
of David Rourk.
Remember, 'Content is KING!'.
Other SEO aspects include:
• Place key phrases in your web page title throughout
the site.
• place the key phrase in meta description tag, meta keyword
tag, headers, sub headers, alt tags, and link text.
• Create a site map for search engine spiders site navigation.
Be sure to place the link to your site map in the upper most region
of your web page.
• Create a properly formatted robots.txt
• Don't ever use frames
• Use flash sparingly. Consider use alternate means of animation
if appropriate.
• Use linked, external files for your java-scripts
• Use linked, external cascading style sheets
• Use dynamic URL's wisely. Avoid using long URL's with dynamic
session IDs or parameters such as '?' or '&' in the URL string.
